Where Does Competitive Greatness Come From?

Scorecard.jpg

Faith and Patience, and the knowing that both start at home where our story begins.

Coach John Wooden said it best “Perform at your best when you best is required. Your best is required each day.” Yes folks, that’s on and off the court or on or off the golf course.

Competitive greatness comes from having good values and being a good person. The confidence it takes to win, to be competitive and to be able to execute with consistent confidence comes from your character. Your character keeps you going mentally by your moral compass. All causation is mental.

Self-confidence, self-control and self-worth comes from within us. Yes, when we always seek to do the right thing, to be a good person and we choose to understand that in life, like on the golf course, our conditions are controlled by our choices. Our choices create our circumstances.

What are circumstances? Cause and effect; everything that we get is an effect that was there because the effect followed the cause. In Eastern dogma, it’s called “karma".

What? Someone might say – “do you think that I thought failure or wanted to fail?” No, of course not. However, thoughts become things. You thoughts, your choices, your behavior and character are things that can produce your failure. Perhaps you might of even thought failure for someone else or took away someone else's choices. This behavior binds the ignorance in you and gives freedom to the wise who know better.

And in tournament golf your piece of mind comes from the knowing that in the moment, that moment - when you step on the golf course you respect it. It is the respect for the course, yourself and others that allows you to thrive, not just survive out there! And yes, to be your best and have a knowingness of your good character, you to know you are guided, is how you can create the "I am able" to perform at my best. Because you now know you are worthy to be there and you now can do just that, be the best that day because of your character daily.

You bring the faith and the patience that you have with yourself and all the alike that you have and do for others. You know what you think about yourself and others produce your outcomes. “It is done unto you” is a wonderful thought. So now, knowing this, you have nothing to worry about – you can just be.

Just be - so you can begin to see the good that God has already done in your life and in others. It is like you to find the good in every situation instead of looking for the bad. It all naturally follows, and as Jesus said, “It will be done unto you as you believe.”

To become and experience competitive greatness again and again, you must know you can not afford the luxury of a negative thought; about anyone or anything!

So now, with your new thinking, you may now also keep it going! Amen! Because now you can no longer blame others for your troubles. You recognize that within yourself is a power to produce success or failure in your life.
